9: 00 from Porto Novo harbour

Day 1 (Hike: 3 hours - level 2-3)
Our driver will meet us in the small harbour of Porto Novo. From there, we take the old road to reach a peak with an incredible panoramic view: the starting point of our hike, during which we explore an incredible green, fertile yet untamed valley. The driver is waiting for us at the other end - and we're off to rest in our little hotel, a piece of heaven hanging on the side of a steep mountain slope. Today's hike gave us a foretaste of the country, and a delicious dinner will introduce us to the Cape Verdean gastronomy.

Day 2(Hike: 4 hours // +/- 250 m // level 2-3)
We leave our hotel in the morning, bent on the quest of the valley of Paúl. It might include rambling through green sceneries, passing by numerous smiling inhabitants and identifying tropical plants. An invigorating picnic lunch among sugar canes inspires us to be on the lookout for dragon trees.

Day 3(Hike: 5 hours - level 3-4)
A somewhat more physical day awaits us. Our guide will lead us to a small fishing village, through a discreet path that we don't want to miss. While wandering through little hamlets overlooking the ocean, through a green forest irrigated by small streams, we slowly reach the highest point of the Eastern part of the island (1600m/5250ft). We go back to Porto Novo by car and spend the night there.

Day 4
Transfer back to the starting point of our adventura on Santo Antão: the harbour of Porto Novo. Here we can or take the ferry back to Mindelo or continue to strive across the island.
